Iraqi anti-American Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr has called for a protest campaign to force Baghdad to abandon a proposed deal that will extend the US troop presence in Iraq beyond 2008.
Sadr said the proposed Status of Forces Agreement aimed at giving a legal basis to US troops after the December 31 expiry of a UN mandate defining their current status, was "against Iraqi national interests".
"After every Friday prayers, everyone must protest and demonstrate until the agreement is cancelled," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said his powerful movement planned to send delegations to neighbouring countries and to the West and to international bodies such as the United Nations, the Arab League and the European Ubnion to explain its position.
He said the Iraqi government should consult the people before entering into any deal with Washington.
US President George W. Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki signed a non-binding statement of principles in November for the negotiations, which began in March with the aim of concluding a pact by the end of July.
There are currently about 150,000 US troops deployed in Iraq, which was invaded by US-led forces in March 2003.
The proposed pact has come under fire from other religious and political leaders both in Iraq and in neighbouring Iran.
Fighters from Sadr's Mahdi army militia fought deadly street battles with US forces in the Shiite slum bastion of Sadr City in Baghdad for seven weeks until a May 10 truce deal took effect.
Iraq's national security council on Monday asked Maliki to ensure that the pact will not harm the national interest.

Iraq's largest Sunni Arab political bloc has suspended talks on ending its boycott of the Shiite-led government due to a dispute over which positions it would assume, the head of the bloc said Wednesday.
The decision was a setback to Prime Minster Nouri al-Maliki's efforts to bring the Sunnis back into the political fold to shore up recent military gains.
"The talks yielded nothing and the government's response was not in line with our demands so we have decided to suspend them," said Adnan al-Dulaimi, who leads the Sunni National Accordance Front, which holds 44 of 275 parliamentary seats.
The bloc, which comprises three parties, pulled its members out of the 39-member Cabinet in August, saying they were not getting enough say in decision-making.
The prime minister, himself a Shiite, expressed optimism on April 25, saying he expected to be ready to present a new Cabinet list "within a few days."
But Sunni officials said a deal was held up by internal disagreements over who should hold which posts.
Al-Dulaimi complained Wednesday that al-Maliki had refused to let his bloc keep the leadership of the Planning Ministry and offered the Communications Ministry instead.
Iraq's Planning Ministry is considered a key portfolio because it conducts research and studies and implements economic and human development projects in Iraq in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental parties.
It also is of symbolic importance to the Accordance Front because it is currently led by a former member of the bloc who was expelled after he broke ranks over the boycott.
"The Communications Ministry has no value in contrary to the planning one," al-Dulaimi told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "We need at least one key portfolio or two service ministries."
The dispute flared as al-Maliki flew to Stockholm, Sweden, for a UN conference aimed at reviewing political and security progress in Iraq.
The prime minister is likely to face renewed pressure at the gathering, which begins Thursday.
When the Accordance Front withdrew from the government, they had five Cabinet posts, plus the vice premiership. But soon afterward, one of the Accordance figures, Ali Baban, agreed to return to his post as planning minister. He was consequently thrown out of the Front as punishment for defying the group's decision to quit.
The only other Sunni in the Cabinet, Defense Minister Abdul-Qader al-Obeidi, is an independent who remained in his post throughout.
Opposition to Article 140 grows The October provincial council elections, which are becoming more of a hot-button issue every day, must be delayed, says the Kurdistan Coalition List.
According to the Iraqi Constitution, Kurdistan Parliament has the authority to decide how to hold provincial council elections in the region.
Meanwhile, Iraqi Parliament is seriously discussing the passage of a provincial council law on which different political parties are disputing how to hold the October elections.
"According to the Iraqi Constitution, any federal region can have its own law, and this includes Kurdistan Region; thus, it is possible not to hold provincial council elections in the region" at the same time it is being held in other Iraqi provinces, said Dr. Sa'di Barzinji, a member of Iraqi Parliament, about the Kurdistan Coalition List.

Talks between al-Assad and Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament and the Arab Parliamentary Union Dr. Mohammad al-Mashhadani on Tuesday dealt with boosting bilateral and parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries, and the importance of further activating the Arab Parliamentary Union to support Arab causes.
Talks also dealt with the situation of displaced Iraqis in Syria and the Syrian efforts to relieve their suffering, and the need for the parties concerned to support them in order to improve their situation and reduce burdens on host countries.
The meeting was attended by Speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly Dr. Mahmoud al-Abrash.

Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament and Chairman of the Arab Parliamentary Union Mahmoud al-Mashhadani on Wednesday said his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad was productive, pointing out to the comprehensive and broad-minded vision of President al-Assad regarding Arab issues and regional affairs.
In a statement to SANA given before leaving Damascus in conclusion of a three-day visit, al-Mashhadani pointed out that he discussed with President al-Assad the development of bilateral relations in politics and economics, in addition to discussing the issue of Iraqi refugees in order to find a realistic solution to their problems.
He said that discussions also dealt with future plans for developing relations between both countries to levels that meet the aspirations of their peoples, affirming that viewpoints between the two countries are in agreement due to their shared concerns, geography and history.
"The Iraqi refugees issue requires treatment and a high-level political decision… we have to look after refugees until security and stability is achieved in Iraq so that they can return to their homes," said al-Mashhadani.

Dubai Al-Sharqiyah Television in Arabic at 0916 on 24 May carries a new 24-minute episode of its "Dialogue" programme. The guest on today's episode is Iraqi Finance Minister Baqir Jabr al-Zubaydi. The interview, which is moderated by Ali Muhsin, is held in Cairo where the minister is conducting a visit to promote investment projects in Iraq.
The moderator notes that there have been some thoughts about removing one or two digits from the Iraqi dinar in order to strengthen it, and he asks Al-Zudaydi to talk about this issue. Al-Zubaydi says that the Central Bank is exclusively responsible for the Iraqi monetary policies; however, the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank are working jointly to confront inflation and to maintain the strength of the Iraqi dinar as well as other related issues. He explains that the idea of removing digits from the value of a currency was applied in several world countries and "this process absolutely does not affect the value of the currency in a manner that instead of having a 1,000-dinar banknote, you will have a one-dinar banknote and, consequently, the value of the dinar becomes almost equal to one USD."

Saudi Arabia says may examine topple Iraq's debts
May 29, 2008 Stockholm (Reuters) - The Saudi official during a meeting in a high-Sweden on Thursday that Saudi Arabia is ready to discuss dropping the debt owed to them on Iraq.
The head of Iraq and the United Nations conference to review the approved plan for Iraq in a meeting hosted by Egypt a year ago.
Prior to that conference was held in May in May 2007 Saudi officials said it was ready to cancel 80 percent of the debt owed to them on Iraq.
So far has been nothing of that pledge but Nizar Madani, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs informed the diplomats gathered in Stockholm that the Saudi government might be willing to exempt Iraq from its debts in full.
Madani said "are aware that the debt is a burden on the economies of countries in light of the circumstances faced by Iraq, we are ready to discuss Iraqi debt forgiveness.
""In this regard we have all the information available to the Iraqi side and we expect that the Iraqi authorities responsible find an appropriate solution for this issue."

Yeah, I'd like to thank the Admin as well for giving us life support in the form of a blog spot.
In the mean time, perhaps we should be working on a contingency plan in the case that the IIF has been hacked and will be permanently down.
We should create a new forum for all of us to post on, and email everyone on the database about the new forum. None of us have any idea how long this will last so I think brainstorming a back-up plan sounds great right about now.
If the IIF comes back on, we can just direct everyone from the Back-Up forum back to IIF.
Question for the Admin: Is IIF hosted off of it's own server or is it hosted off of a FORUM server that hosts for many other forums. Because if you check out www.taxforum.us, it uses the same ICON as the IIF in the IE7 bookmark. I thought it may be hosted on the same server as IIF but it doesn't seem like www.taxforum.us is down at all.
Gottadash, I believe the reason why none of the Iraq Investor forums are coming up on the google search is because they're down. I believe the way google search works is that it runs a search on all active servers to find matches to the search criteria you entered. Being that the IIF and IDI are down, google search wouldn't be able to find it.
At least I think that's how it works. Although, something that contradicts what I think is the fact that when you run a search on Google, you sometimes get dead links which... again baffles me. =\

I agree Jmonee. Yeah, I thought a lot of Wednsday morning's news was quite negative. I'm glad to see some good news coming out today. Odd coincidence that bad news was the last news out before the site went down. And good news is coming out as the website remains down.

I think it may be quicker and easier to just find another Forum host. I like the layout for the forums of www.honda-tech.com I also notice that there are many other forums with that perticular layout. Very simple and quick which is what I think would be best for IIF considering our rapid growth and high traffic. www.sharkyforums.com also has a nice layout.

FYI - Hubby says that this heavy of a load problem could be a "denile of service" attack. It takes coordination (usually involves multiple servers bombarding a website all at once). I think that groups like Anonymous do stuff like this - not that it's them.
International Compact with Iraq Statement by Adam Bennett Senior Advisor, Middle East and Central Asia Department International Monetary Fund Stockholm, Sweden, May 29, 2008 Mr. Secretary General, Prime Minster Al-Maliki, Deputy Prime Minister Barham Saleh, your excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, it is a great pleasure for me to address this first Annual Review Conference of the International Compact with Iraq. I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Al-Maliki, his government, and its international partners on the achievements that have been made so far toward building a more secure, stable, and prosperous future for the Iraqi people. Many challenges undoubtedly remain. The establishment of the Compact on May 3, 2007 was an important reminder that Iraq's efforts to overcome these challenges has the support of the international community. I am pleased that the Fund has been able play its part in this process.
Briefly, on the recent history of our relationship with Iraq, the Fund began to reengage with Iraq in the summer of 2003. As well as providing extensive technical assistance, the Fund has provided financial support for Iraq's economic programs, with Emergency Post-Conflict Assistance in September 2004, a Stand-By Arrangement in December 2005, and a second Stand-By Arrangement in December 2007. From its inception, the objectives of the International Compact with Iraq and those of the Fund's two Stand-By Arrangements have been consistent and both are based on the same medium-term macroeconomic framework.
The main objectives of Iraq's Fund-supported economic programs were to: (i) achieve macroeconomic stability; (ii) promote growth; and (iii) begin the process of structural reform. Much has been achieved. These successes are all the more remarkable in view of the very difficult security situation in Iraq. For this, the Iraqi authorities deserve our congratulations.
Let me note a few of the achievements of the past year. First is the impressive reduction in inflation, from 65 percent at the end of 2006 to 5 percent at the end of 2007, a rate at which it has remained so far in 2008. Second is the increase in oil production and exports since the last quarter of 2007. Having remained virtually constant at 1.4 mpbd for four years, oil exports have averaged 1.8 mbpd in the first four months of 2008. Third, explicit fuel subsidies have been all but eliminated. Domestic fuel prices were further increased in 2007, after earlier adjustments in late 2005 and in 2006.
Progress has also continued to be made in structural reforms. The amendments to the new pension law, putting the pension system on a sustainable fiscal footing, were passed in October last year. In the financial sector, audits of the country's two largest state banks (Rafidain and Rasheed banks) are underway, as a first step to developing a restructuring program for the two banks. The Central Bank of Iraq has meanwhile been making progress in improving its accounting and governance structure.
Of course, in highlighting these successes, we must acknowledge that serious challenges remain. First and foremost is the continuing challenge to improve security. In addition, it will be important to maintain a stable macroeconomic environment, strengthen the rule of law, and improve the business climate. This will be crucial for the implementation of investment plans, and for the development of the private sector, which is what will be needed to sustain economic growth and to provide jobs for Iraq's many unemployed. It will be important not to allow the achievements of the past year to be endangered. For example, wages and other current public spending must be kept under control and at levels that the economy can sustain without reigniting inflation.
Looking ahead, discussions on the first review under the current Stand-By Arrangement are scheduled to begin shortly. We hope that these discussions will have a positive outcome, and that the Fund will be able to complete this review. Keeping its IMF-supported program on track will help Iraq to secure its economic reform objectives and achieve long-term debt sustainability. The third and final stage of the Paris Club debt-reduction agreement is scheduled for December 2008, and is contingent on completion of the second and final review of the Stand-By Arrangement. In this context, it remains important to continue to make progress in reaching bilateral debt agreements with Iraq's non-Paris Club creditors. The debt relief is fully justified in order to secure the fiscal space needed to finance Iraq's reconstruction.
The Fund will continue to support the International Compact with Iraq through the medium-term macroeconomic policy framework supported under the Stand-By Arrangement. We will also continue to provide policy advice and technical assistance. Over the course of the past year, the Stand-By Arrangement and the Compact have worked together to help the Iraqi government achieve its economic goals. As these two programs are jointly carried forward, we can expect more successes on the economic front.
In conclusion, we wish the Iraqi authorities much success in further implementing the ambitious work program of the Compact.
I think the post by IraqMediaHawk is stating that Zubaydi was asked about a possible LOP and Zubaydi responded by stating IF it were to happen it would not change the value. He didn't say it would happen... That's my take on it anyway.
Yeah, looking at the statement by Adam Bennett at the ICI that H20 posted, it doesn't look like a LOP is in the plans of the Iraqi government. A LOP just doesn't make any sense in that it will bring the value to a smaller number, which then when the economy grows and grows, which is their plan, that the IQD would be so valuable, they would have to use 0.1Fil coins in the future.

I has taken two weeks but NNP is now back up and running, pretty quite because of transfer of information and some are having problems logging on. So not much information and we are not rich yet.
Guy's I hope this problem means something big for us! It all just seems a little strange not to mean something. Maybe just grasping. All we can do is hope.
From what I have been able to find out..the Ddos attacks have been widespread this year. Now forums are taking the hit..not just the dinar forums. Some believe it has to do with "competition" and an aspiration for being number one, So HITS are being ordered. Makes no sense with the dinar forums though because it seems all have been hit at this point. We need to just ride this storm out I guess..keep our trust in IIF that they will get this worked out in a timely fashion.

Iraq's largest Sunni Arab political bloc has suspended talks on ending its boycott of the Shiite-led government due to a dispute over which positions it would assume, the head of the bloc said Wednesday.
The decision was a setback to Prime Minster Nouri al-Maliki's efforts to bring the Sunnis back into the political fold to shore up recent military gains.
"The talks yielded nothing and the government's response was not in line with our demands so we have decided to suspend them," said Adnan al-Dulaimi, who leads the Sunni National Accordance Front, which holds 44 of 275 parliamentary seats.
The bloc, which comprises three parties, pulled its members out of the 39-member Cabinet in August, saying they were not getting enough say in decision-making.
The prime minister, himself a Shiite, expressed optimism on April 25, saying he expected to be ready to present a new Cabinet list "within a few days."
But Sunni officials said a deal was held up by internal disagreements over who should hold which posts.
Al-Dulaimi complained Wednesday that al-Maliki had refused to let his bloc keep the leadership of the Planning Ministry and offered the Communications Ministry instead.
Iraq's Planning Ministry is considered a key portfolio because it conducts research and studies and implements economic and human development projects in Iraq in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental parties.
It also is of symbolic importance to the Accordance Front because it is currently led by a former member of the bloc who was expelled after he broke ranks over the boycott.
"The Communications Ministry has no value in contrary to the planning one," al-Dulaimi told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "We need at least one key portfolio or two service ministries."
The dispute flared as al-Maliki flew to Stockholm, Sweden, for a UN conference aimed at reviewing political and security progress in Iraq.
The prime minister is likely to face renewed pressure at the gathering, which begins Thursday.
When the Accordance Front withdrew from the government, they had five Cabinet posts, plus the vice premiership. But soon afterward, one of the Accordance figures, Ali Baban, agreed to return to his post as planning minister. He was consequently thrown out of the Front as punishment for defying the group's decision to quit.
The only other Sunni in the Cabinet, Defense Minister Abdul-Qader al-Obeidi, is an independent who remained in his post throughout.
Opposition to Article 140 grows
The October provincial council elections, which are becoming more of a hot-button issue every day, must be delayed, says the Kurdistan Coalition List.
According to the Iraqi Constitution, Kurdistan Parliament has the authority to decide how to hold provincial council elections in the region.
Meanwhile, Iraqi Parliament is seriously discussing the passage of a provincial council law on which different political parties are disputing how to hold the October elections.
"According to the Iraqi Constitution, any federal region can have its own law, and this includes Kurdistan Region; thus, it is possible not to hold provincial council elections in the region" at the same time it is being held in other Iraqi provinces, said Dr. Sa'di Barzinji, a member of Iraqi Parliament, about the Kurdistan Coalition List.

President Bashar al-Assad reiterated Syria's keenness on the stability and security in Iraq and its support to the integrity of Iraqi people and lands.
Talks between al-Assad and Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament and the Arab Parliamentary Union Dr. Mohammad al-Mashhadani on Tuesday dealt with boosting bilateral and parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries, and the importance of further activating the Arab Parliamentary Union to support Arab causes.
Talks also dealt with the situation of displaced Iraqis in Syria and the Syrian efforts to relieve their suffering, and the need for the parties concerned to support them in order to improve their situation and reduce burdens on host countries.
The meeting was attended by Speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly Dr. Mahmoud al-Abrash.

Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament and Chairman of the Arab Parliamentary Union Mahmoud al-Mashhadani on Wednesday said his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad was productive, pointing out to the comprehensive and broad-minded vision of President al-Assad regarding Arab issues and regional affairs.
In a statement to SANA given before leaving Damascus in conclusion of a three-day visit, al-Mashhadani pointed out that he discussed with President al-Assad the development of bilateral relations in politics and economics, in addition to discussing the issue of Iraqi refugees in order to find a realistic solution to their problems.
He said that discussions also dealt with future plans for developing relations between both countries to levels that meet the aspirations of their peoples, affirming that viewpoints between the two countries are in agreement due to their shared concerns, geography and history.
"The Iraqi refugees issue requires treatment and a high-level political decision… we have to look after refugees until security and stability is achieved in Iraq so that they can return to their homes," said al-Mashhadani.

The interview, which is moderated by Ali Muhsin, is held in Cairo where the minister is conducting a visit to promote investment projects in Iraq.
The moderator notes that there have been some thoughts about removing one or two digits from the Iraqi dinar in order to strengthen it, and he asks Al-Zudaydi to talk about this issue. Al-Zubaydi says that the Central Bank is exclusively responsible for the Iraqi monetary policies; however, the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank are working jointly to confront inflation and to maintain the strength of the Iraqi dinar as well as other related issues. He explains that the idea of removing digits from the value of a currency was applied in several world countries and "this process absolutely does not affect the value of the currency in a manner that instead of having a 1,000-dinar banknote, you will have a one-dinar banknote and, consequently, the value of the dinar becomes almost equal to one USD."

Saudi Arabia says may examine topple Iraq's debts

Stockholm (Reuters) - The Saudi official during a meeting in a high-Sweden on Thursday that Saudi Arabia is ready to discuss dropping the debt owed to them on Iraq.
The head of Iraq and the United Nations conference to review the approved plan for Iraq in a meeting hosted by Egypt a year ago.
Prior to that conference was held in May in May 2007 Saudi officials said it was ready to cancel 80 percent of the debt owed to them on Iraq.
So far has been nothing of that pledge but Nizar Madani, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs informed the diplomats gathered in Stockholm that the Saudi government might be willing to exempt Iraq from its debts in full.
Madani said "are aware that the debt is a burden on the economies of countries in light of the circumstances faced by Iraq, we are ready to discuss Iraqi debt forgiveness.
""In this regard we have all the information available to the Iraqi side and we expect that the Iraqi authorities responsible find an appropriate solution for this issue."

Yeah, I'd like to thank the Admin as well for giving us life support in the form of a blog spot.
In the mean time, perhaps we should be working on a contingency plan in the case that the IIF has been hacked and will be permanently down.
We should create a new forum for all of us to post on, and email everyone on the database about the new forum. None of us have any idea how long this will last so I think brainstorming a back-up plan sounds great right about now.
If the IIF comes back on, we can just direct everyone from the Back-Up forum back to IIF.
Question for the Admin: Is IIF hosted off of it's own server or is it hosted off of a FORUM server that hosts for many other forums. Because if you check out www.taxforum.us, it uses the same ICON as the IIF in the IE7 bookmark. I thought it may be hosted on the same server as IIF but it doesn't seem like www.taxforum.us is down at all.
Gottadash, I believe the reason why none of the Iraq Investor forums are coming up on the google search is because they're down. I believe the way google search works is that it runs a search on all active servers to find matches to the search criteria you entered. Being that the IIF and IDI are down, google search wouldn't be able to find it.
At least I think that's how it works. Although, something that contradicts what I think is the fact that when you run a search on Google, you sometimes get dead links which... again baffles me. =\

I think it may be quicker and easier to just find another Forum host. I like the layout for the forums of www.honda-tech.com I also notice that there are many other forums with that perticular layout. Very simple and quick which is what I think would be best for IIF considering our rapid growth and high traffic. www.sharkyforums.com also has a nice layout.

FYI - Hubby says that this heavy of a load problem could be a "denile of service" attack. It takes coordination (usually involves multiple servers bombarding a website all at once). I think that groups like Anonymous do stuff like this - not that it's them.

Mr. Secretary General, Prime Minster Al-Maliki, Deputy Prime Minister Barham Saleh, your excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, it is a great pleasure for me to address this first Annual Review Conference of the International Compact with Iraq. I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Al-Maliki, his government, and its international partners on the achievements that have been made so far toward building a more secure, stable, and prosperous future for the Iraqi people. Many challenges undoubtedly remain. The establishment of the Compact on May 3, 2007 was an important reminder that Iraq's efforts to overcome these challenges has the support of the international community. I am pleased that the Fund has been able play its part in this process.
Briefly, on the recent history of our relationship with Iraq, the Fund began to reengage with Iraq in the summer of 2003. As well as providing extensive technical assistance, the Fund has provided financial support for Iraq's economic programs, with Emergency Post-Conflict Assistance in September 2004, a Stand-By Arrangement in December 2005, and a second Stand-By Arrangement in December 2007. From its inception, the objectives of the International Compact with Iraq and those of the Fund's two Stand-By Arrangements have been consistent and both are based on the same medium-term macroeconomic framework.
The main objectives of Iraq's Fund-supported economic programs were to: (i) achieve macroeconomic stability; (ii) promote growth; and (iii) begin the process of structural reform. Much has been achieved. These successes are all the more remarkable in view of the very difficult security situation in Iraq. For this, the Iraqi authorities deserve our congratulations.
Let me note a few of the achievements of the past year. First is the impressive reduction in inflation, from 65 percent at the end of 2006 to 5 percent at the end of 2007, a rate at which it has remained so far in 2008. Second is the increase in oil production and exports since the last quarter of 2007. Having remained virtually constant at 1.4 mpbd for four years, oil exports have averaged 1.8 mbpd in the first four months of 2008. Third, explicit fuel subsidies have been all but eliminated. Domestic fuel prices were further increased in 2007, after earlier adjustments in late 2005 and in 2006.
Progress has also continued to be made in structural reforms. The amendments to the new pension law, putting the pension system on a sustainable fiscal footing, were passed in October last year. In the financial sector, audits of the country's two largest state banks (Rafidain and Rasheed banks) are underway, as a first step to developing a restructuring program for the two banks. The Central Bank of Iraq has meanwhile been making progress in improving its accounting and governance structure.
Of course, in highlighting these successes, we must acknowledge that serious challenges remain. First and foremost is the continuing challenge to improve security. In addition, it will be important to maintain a stable macroeconomic environment, strengthen the rule of law, and improve the business climate. This will be crucial for the implementation of investment plans, and for the development of the private sector, which is what will be needed to sustain economic growth and to provide jobs for Iraq's many unemployed. It will be important not to allow the achievements of the past year to be endangered. For example, wages and other current public spending must be kept under control and at levels that the economy can sustain without reigniting inflation.
Looking ahead, discussions on the first review under the current Stand-By Arrangement are scheduled to begin shortly. We hope that these discussions will have a positive outcome, and that the Fund will be able to complete this review. Keeping its IMF-supported program on track will help Iraq to secure its economic reform objectives and achieve long-term debt sustainability. The third and final stage of the Paris Club debt-reduction agreement is scheduled for December 2008, and is contingent on completion of the second and final review of the Stand-By Arrangement. In this context, it remains important to continue to make progress in reaching bilateral debt agreements with Iraq's non-Paris Club creditors. The debt relief is fully justified in order to secure the fiscal space needed to finance Iraq's reconstruction.
The Fund will continue to support the International Compact with Iraq through the medium-term macroeconomic policy framework supported under the Stand-By Arrangement. We will also continue to provide policy advice and technical assistance. Over the course of the past year, the Stand-By Arrangement and the Compact have worked together to help the Iraqi government achieve its economic goals. As these two programs are jointly carried forward, we can expect more successes on the economic front.
In conclusion, we wish the Iraqi authorities much success in further implementing the ambitious work program of the Compact.

Yeah, looking at the statement by Adam Bennett at the ICI that H20 posted, it doesn't look like a LOP is in the plans of the Iraqi government. A LOP just doesn't make any sense in that it will bring the value to a smaller number, which then when the economy grows and grows, which is their plan, that the IQD would be so valuable, they would have to use 0.1Fil coins in the future.
And Aaron, I think your take on the 9:29 post is the most reasonable.

I has taken two weeks but NNP is now back up and running, pretty quite because of transfer of information and some are having problems logging on. So not much information and we are not rich yet.

Guy's I hope this problem means something big for us! It all just seems a little strange not to mean something. Maybe just grasping. All we can do is hope.

Maybe this is all the "Negative before the Positive" ocurring before our eyes...
the dinar forums isnt the only sites being attacked..other non related sites are being hacked to so maybe it is just an coincidence
Perhaps the 'other sites' are considered acceptable casualties in a war against dinar sites?
From what I have been able to find out..the Ddos attacks have been widespread this year. Now forums are taking the hit..not just the dinar forums. Some believe it has to do with "competition" and an aspiration for being number one, So HITS are being ordered. Makes no sense with the dinar forums though because it seems all have been hit at this point. We need to just ride this storm out I guess..keep our trust in IIF that they will get this worked out in a timely fashion.
